IATSE Endorses Nevada AFL-CIO Resolution Supporting Protect IP Act

IATSE General Board Endorses Obama 2nd Term

New York – International President Matthew D. Loeb has put his strongest support behind a resolution passed by the Nevada State AFL-CIO that calls on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid “to position the full power of his office” to support the Protect IP Act. The proposed bill would protect against the digital theft of movies, television shows, and music, which is costing the entertainment industry billions of dollars a year.

The resolution, submitted by Locals 720 and 363, was unanimously approved at the 55th Annual Constitutional Convention of the Nevada State AFL-CIO, held in August in Reno. It is yet another push to get the Protect IP Act onto the floor of the Senate for debate.

President Loeb also noted that the involvement of Locals 720 and 363 is significant and demonstrates that “our local unions and members coast to coast, are joining the campaign against digital theft in as many ways as possible.”
