SHERBROOKE, QC, June 21 – IATSE Local 262 has successfully certified front-of-house employees at the Galaxy Cinema Sherbrooke. The 12-screen theatre, owned by Cineplex Entertainment LP, is located in the City of Sherbrooke and is a part of the Eastern Townships, roughly two hours east of Montreal.
The application for certification was filed on May 10. On June 12, the Quebec Labour Relations Board released its decision in favour of Local 262. The local now has a presence in three regions of Quebec: the Greater Montreal Area, Quebec City, and Sherbrooke. The 40 members of this new bargaining unit are looking forward to starting negotiations for their first collective agreement with their employer.
