Washington Square Films Sign IATSE Commercial Supplemental Memorandum

IA President Short Appoints Safety Chairman

Washington Square Films became the first commercial company to sign the IATSE Commercial Supplemental Memorandum, it was announced by International President Thomas C. Short. The Supplemental Memorandum applies to companies which failed to sign the AICP and Multi-State Supplemental agreements during an open period when producers were offered more favorable terms. The Supplement presently covers more than 250 companies nationally.

Approximately 20 crew members working on the five-day commercial shoot are covered by this agreement that will now apply to all future projects produced by the company. Washington Square Films will pay benefits for the crew including pension, health and welfare benefits.

International Representative Steve Aredas as well as representatives from IA Local Unions spearheaded organizational efforts.
